"Thats not so bad" Aaron says commenting on the journey

"Well, have you tracked them yet?" David asked. Apparently they still had to draw a circle on the floor and of course bring out some random plants finishing up with an elaborate ritual. TOO DARN SLOW "If you don't finish within an hour I'll carve a circle into the floor with what is left of you once I'm through with you! UNDERSTAND? NO magic is COMPLICATED excuse!"

David was furiously watching the trackers hurry about their work, noting the amount of priests running and jumping through the tower chambers. The truth temple was very powerful, but David like so many others didn't trust them.

Aaron started whistle as he walked

Mira looked irritated. The Overwizard noticed. "I didn't know she was capable of facial expressions."

Aaron stopped whistling "Nether did I"

"You finished?" David asked nicely.

"Almost..."

"%$#! I TOLD YOU TO FINISH WITHIN THE HOUR"

"Well, all we know so far is that your escapees went north" the spell-caster said.

"OK, grab a horse, we are moving"

"But, but..."

Mira no longer looked irritated.

The group could now see Fiore in the distance, silhouetted against a setting sun.

"Oh that looks nice"

"Indeed. I always wondered whether they lucked out placing a city on that mesa or if they had to use some sort of magic to shape the terrain. Looks nice however they did it, though." The Overwizard pointed. "That tall building out on that little island there, that's the tower we're looking for."

"Then lets go"

The Fiorean Mesa had several stout bridges providing better ways of scaling the sheer slopes; in some places they were nearly vertical. One of these bridges led out to a gatehouse and small keep, which in turn guarded the path to the Wizard's Tower.

As they approached the gatehouse, a guard captain, this one wearing much better equipment than any they'd seen back in Lucare, called down to them. "Who goes there?"

"Overwizard Barrek Griffin of Lucare Tower, with three guests, ah..." He lowered his voice as he faced Aaron. "What were your names again?"

"Aaron, smoldar, Mria"

"Aaron, Smoldar and Mira...also of Lucare."

The guard cast a critical eye over Smoldar's garb but ultimately didn't mention it. His gaze lingered a little longer on Mira - the Overwizard couldn't blame him for that, he'd done the same. "Right, we'll have the portcullis open for you in half a minute." He turned away from the battlements and barked orders. The crack of a whip was heard.

"Well isn't this a nice place"

The portcullis opened up and they walked through. Barrek seemed to know where he was going and Mira seemed content to let Aaron drag her along by the hand.

There were small wooden paddocks, circular in shape, on either side of the portcullis. A soldier in boiled leather stood over either one, holding a whip. Inside, pulling winches chained to pulleys and then the portcullis, were what appeared to be slaves, for all intents and purposes. Most were shirtless (except the one woman), and they covered a variety of ethnicities and races: there was at least one elf and more of them were goblins than human.

"This place is shaping up to be a wealth of greatness"

Barrek nodded, apparently taking him literally. "Wait until you see the Tower interior."

"Oh I can't wait"

David and his trackers were making good progress towards the prisoners. David had finally managed to talk his way out of the tower and the new occupants, the Truth God clergy. David remembered the days before the Truth Temple had become politically involved with the country. Barely any paperwork.

The Tower interior, as it happened, did not contain any slaves. It did have stacks of books floating around seemingly at random. Barrek looked comfortable with that. The wizards there were a rather diverse population; Aaron and Smoldar didn't even recognize all the races that were represented there.

Ultimately they were taken to see the Overwizard of that tower...who turned out to be a bear at a desk.

Aaron bowed respectively but in his head he thought "Ok a bear is running this place I didn't expect that"

Barrek nodded greeting to the bear. "Overwizard Balthasar."

The bear then spoke, quite fluently. "Overwizard Griffin, it has been a long time. How are things at your tower?"

"Well, Myroth got himself either turned into a woman or eaten by an eldritch abomination." Barrek indicated Mira, who was staring at a fixed point near the ceiling, for some reason. Barrek had stopped questioning it.

"You wont be getting much out of her"

Balthasar turned his massive head to Aaron. "And why would that be, master elf?"

"See doesn't respond to most things like voice. She does however not like it if you touch her"
