[FYI Sirius and PW, how are we going to keep the party together? Dezenn has no real reason to want to travel with Malachai and Octavion.]

(Whenever I wonder as to why a party should stay together, I always ask myself why they should separate. What are Dezenn's goals? Considering she's just encountered a Spartan Warrior and a man cursed to have people kill themselves near him, why would she want to leave?)

Octavion attempts to hijack the ferry...

Octavion takes hold of the boat, puts the tax dodger in it, and grabs the oar from the ferryman and starts paddling away.

(As for why the party should stay together, 3 people working together is much better than every man or woman for themself.)

Guards with bows start shooting in the direction of the ferry, with horrible aim (they never used the bows before), and stopped once the ferry got close to shore to avoid hitting civilians.

David meanwhile assembles some guards to ride across a bridge a little further down the river.

[Yes, but given Dezenn's status as a member of the local thieves' guild she's going to want to get back to that. Plus, I'm not sure how pleased Octavion and Malachai will be to learn that about her.]

(Wait, so would I be correct in assuming Dezenn would be motivated by money? Also, Sirius, what would Octavian be motivated by?)

Malachai follows Octavian in his usual listless fashion.

[Yes, you would.]

(Octavion would be motivated by justice and, let's be honest because he came from Sparta, a worthy challenge.)

Octavion rows the boat to the shore, pays the ferryman to apologize for what happened, pulls the tax dodger out, and begins to run through the forest, with the tax dodger running behind him.

(Hey Numbers, would it be alright if I take the tax dodger as my second character?)

(Go ahead)

David and the guards are trying to maneuver their horses through the crowds towards Dezenn, Octavian and Malachai "Move! People MOVE!"

Dezenn sprinted for the forest. The guards would clear a path pretty quickly with their horses and of course they'd be able to run down any of the three of them quite easily. The best option was to get into the forest and wait them out, in her opinion.

"Move already!" David yelled. His group of guards were getting very close.

Octavion continues his run through the forest until he comes upon a deep cave. Nearby the cave, there is a tree that has fallen over what appears to be a hole in the ground which looks manmade.

He decides that the fallen tree may be a trap set up by the guards for any escaping prisoners and hides in the cave, followed by the tac dodger.

He turns to the tax dodger and says, "What is your name?"

"Anastasia." the tax dodger replied.

Dezenn, having little better option, hides in the cave as well, readying her sling in case the guards investigate the cave too closely.

"Take this spear and shield." Octavion says to Anastasia, handing her his shield and spear. He draws his sword in case any guards investigate the cave too closely.

Anastasia takes the shield and spear and readies them in a hoplite-like position. She sure as hell wouldn't get caught by them again.

David and the guards ride past the cave "I think we passed them. You [pointing at a random guard], get the local tracker and the rest of us will search in pairs of two. They won't get away this time."

"Ah $@&!!" Octavion whispers as he realizes how much trouble they were in now.

Guards start to fan out, a little further along the path, trying to find any trace of the missing prisoners.

Octavion and Anastasia retreat further into the cave, weapons at the ready. If the guards searched this cave, they were going to have quite a surprise waiting for them.

Meanwhile the tracker arrived, and David greeted him in the usual way "You took your fine time getting here. There are criminals on the loose, so get to work!"

Two guards are moving towards the cave.

"PSST!" Octavion hisses to Dezenn. "Fall back into the shadows. If we're gonna make it out alive, we must have the element of surprise on our side."

Dezenn followed the other two, retreating further into the cave since she didn't have a shield or sword.

The guards come up to the cave and peer in. They see nothing "You think they are in here?"
"Dunno" guard 2 replied
"Shall we look?" Guard 1 asked
"OK, but we've got to be real smart about it"
"Let us sneak in and capture them before they can say prison" guard 1 smiled

The guards went inside.

Dezenn remained silent, placing a throwing spike in her sling and hoping Octavion wouldn't charge forward and foul up everything. She waited for the guards to be a fair distance in the cave, then, aiming for the silhouette of the first one to speak, whipped the sling forward. The spike slammed into and through the guard's chestplate, punching a hole in the man's chest and knocking him to the ground.
