Unfortunately Octavion's arm gets in the way of the sling and catches it mid-swing - fortunately for Octavion the spike merely clattered to the ground rather than spiking his arm. "Watch it!" Dezenn hissed at the Spartan.

"What the hell did I do?!" Octavion shouts as he thrust his spear at a guard...

The member 'Sirius Lupin' has done the following action : Roll dice

The guard safely slips out of the way. "Dammit!" Octavion seethes. "How the hell do these guys know we were escaping?"

Dezenn didn't answer - as far as she was concerned it didn't matter. She reloaded the sling and attacked again...

The member 'Mycrodeeth' has done the following action : Roll dice

The spike slammed into a guard's shield and stuck there, not harming him.

Octavion slams his shield against the guard and thrust his spear again...

The member 'Sirius Lupin' has done the following action : Roll dice

David tied the tax dodger to a post with a series of complex knots, then proceeded to enter the guard house, drawing his long sword in the process "Surrender now, or prepare for a beating he screamed."

More guards stormed into the room, pushing the former prisoners toward the window facing the river.

The spear sinks deep into the gut of the guard, and he falls down hard.

Octavion turns to David and says, "You want our weapons?"

"Drop them, and then we'll see" replied David.

Dezenn realized that Octavion, despite all his claims regarding Spartans, would not be able to hold so many guards off [As epic as Lord of the Rings was, armies of mooks do tend to be effective. Otherwise why would evil Dark Lords bother with them?] She therefore dumped out all her throwing spikes but one (they're quite heavy) which she used to shatter the window, which she promptly dived through.

"Then come and get them!" Octavion says, raising his weapons high as he also jumps out the window. He ran over to the tax dodger and cut her bonds and pulls her along away from the prison.

"@#!" muttered David "One of them dove through the window, probably in the river."

The ferryman decides to pick up Dezenn and hide her on his boat.

Dezenn nodded her thanks to the ferryman, as she made sure her throwing spikes reappeared in their bandolier. Good, they did; that enchantment cost her a lot of money, even if she stole nearly all of it back.

The Ferryman begins to paddle to the opposing shore "I hope you can spare a little change..."

"Of course." Dezenn said, not meaning a word of it, seeing as she'd already swiped the man's coin purse. It was sad that she'd have to part with a copper or two but she would have so many more...

The Ferryman docs at the opposing shore "you should be safe for the moment. Good luck."

(Time for Malachai's decimating effect.)

Malachai observes that both of the others dove out of the window. As usual, he is slow to move.

As the guards no doubt begin to close in on the unarmed man. He waits with a rather sad look in his eye, as they approach, and begin to kill themselves.

(rolling one die for all of the guards, because I have no clue how many there are; you can interpret the result as you wish, Numbers.)

Malachai then jumps out the window, following the direction of the others.

"OI!" Octavion shouts to the ferryman. "Can you give us a lift?"

Dezenn hopped nimbly onto the shore, looking back to see if the guards had any ranged weaponry.

The ferryman decides that is more trouble to pick up the prisoners with guards trying to catch them and ignores Octavian. He is relatively close to the prisoners however...
