The first guard made a muffled sound "Tom what was that?"

Dezenn launched another throwing spike. [Rolling this time since it's not a Sneak Attack and I want to give the poor man something of a chance.]

The member 'Mycrodeeth' has done the following action : Roll dice

The guard, not entirely stupid, had his shield raised and Dezenn's throwing spike hit the shield. Though the fast-moving sharpened adamant punched through the iron, it lost enough momentum and turned enough that the shoulder plate of his armor deflected it.

Anastasia- upon finding the body of a warrior who died in the cave earlier- decides that she needs to move into action while she still has the chance. She tosses the spear in the air to catch it in reverse grip and then threw it at the uninjured guard...

The spear goes through the neck of the uninjured guard, and he limply falls back in the blink of an eye.

"Nice shot!" Octavion says to Anastasia, who had picked up the skeleton's sword. her reasoning was, if the warrior was dead, he didn't need the sword anymore.

Meanwhile, the other guards are reporting no signs of the escaped prisoners in the forest. "Tracker, if they are not in the forest, where are they?" David muttered to himself.

"In the caves more than likely. You see a large cave system runs below that hill and castle. Incidentally, your boss, the judge owns that castle. I fear that if they ran deep into the caves it would not be worth the effort to retrieve them." The tracker replied.

"Where are the entrances?"

"These caves formed under the most percu..." the tracker began before seeing David's impatient stare "The only known entrance would be from the castle."

"Obviously not. Guards, look for any entrances to a cave and report back. We want to seal all the entrances."

Guard 2 swung his sword blindly in Dezenn's direction, surprised by the sudden attack.

Octavion suddenly leaps out of the shadows and swings his sword in a horizontal arc at the guard's neck...

Guard 2 is beheaded.

"Can you be less gruesome, Spartan?" Anastasia asks in disgust.

"You're welcome." Octavion replies rather sarcastically. "Now let's go through these caverns, and see if there is some exit nearby."

Octavion goes over to the bodies and retrieves his spear from Guard 1's neck.

Meanwhile, Anastasia retrieves a longbow and a quiver of arrows from the warrior's body.

(Mycro, if you need additional weapons, this corpse has a hunting dagger left.)

[Guard 1 was already dead; Dezenn got him with a spike. Just FYI/nitpicking.]

"You speared that man through the neck and you're complaining about gruesome?" Dezenn asked, bemused. She examined the corpse, pocketing whatever valuables the man had on him and found the dagger. She turned it over once, twice, then discarded it. If she needed to get into melee one of her throwing spikes could double as a stabbing weapon in a pinch, and they were of infinitely better quality that that...thing. That knife was in such poor condition she wouldn't have used it as a crowbar, let alone a weapon.

"Let's get going before more of those idiots show up." Octavion says as he retrieved his shield from Anastasia. He began to walk further into the darkness before he turned around and says, "Is there anyway we can get a light source to help us see where the hell we're going?"

Guards line up in front of the most cave entrances. The groups entrance is not covered.

"I don't see any guards outside. We should escape that way." Dezenn said, heading for the cave exit.

"Wait," Anastasia says, hearing something. "Did you hear that?"

There is a cackling coming from the back of the cave. Octavion and Anastasia decide to check it out.

"No, don't go back there you fools! It's an obvious trap!" Dezenn hissed in agitation.

Octavion and Anastasia ignore Dezenn as they come upon the sight of the judge in her vampire form hunched over the corpse of a former inmate, sucking his blood. Upon recognizing the body, Anastasia's eyes teared up as she whispered, "Chrysanthos... no."

In a rage, she loaded her bow and aimed for the vampire. She was about to shoot when Octavion stops her, pulling her left arm down and whispering, "Vampires can sense an arrow coming at them. We Spartans may be tough, but none of us has ever taken down a vampire before. We need help from a professional in defeating this creature."

Just as Octavion finishes saying this, the vampire- now full from her meal- stands up and transforms back into her human form. Anastasia's jaw drops as she recognized the judge from earlier. She turns to Octavion and whispers, "That was the judge who sent me to that prison where we met."

"So I was right all along." Octavion says as the judge walks away in the direction that Octavion and Anastasia are facing (She's walking away from them.) "The law here is indeed corrupt."

After the judge disappears from view, Octavion and Anastasia walk back to Dezenn.

"Do you two have a death wish?" Dezenn asked tartly, still approaching the cave exit.

"Listen sister," Octavion says, pulling Dezenn back. "Anastasia and I came across an interesting, yet sinister, site. To explain what we saw, I have to ask you a question: what were you in jail for?"

Dezenn twisted out of Octavion's grip. "Really. The face mask and the armor and you still don't know?"

Octavion recognizes the face-mask and armor. "I don't believe this." he says with a little smile. "You're with the Thieve's Guild, aren't you?"

"Hmmm..." Dezenn made as if she were considering the idea. "That does seem reasonable, doesn't it?" Her smile said despite the ambiguous response that Octavion had gotten it right.

"Were you brought before a judge before you were imprisoned?" Anastasia demanded, not wanting to beat around the bush anymore.

"Of course I was." Dezenn said, perplexed by the rather obvious question.
