Fate/Impetus

Aaron fired his own barrier magic in front of him to block the curses before charging his pistols with all the mana he could put in them. He leveled both guns at the girl "Double Flame shot" he says as two huge fire bullets shoot out at the girl.

The bow dissolved into mana and Archer grabbed the nodachi from her belt, holding it ready.

The enemy Servant alighted on the opposite side of the roof, landing with a bestial grace. He didn't look like he was expecting combat - he was standing there, quite at ease, with his hands at his sides. "Yo. I'm gonna guess you're Archer?" 

From this range, Takeshi's natural Master clairvoyance kicked in. This was Servant Lancer.

She just reinforced her barrier with another emerald layer, easily weathering the attack. Then she took out another gem - this one a ruby, and tossed it along the ground towards him. As it skipped across the pavement, it vanished, shattering and then dissolving away into dust and from that into nothing.

"What gave it away?" Takeshi asks, "So this is Lancer, tis an honor to meet you."

Lancer grinned. "Likewise. I think. We'll see, anyway." He held out a hand and a spear materialized in it - blood red, with flanged blades near the tip. "An Archer using a sword, huh? I certainly hope you know how to use it!"

Archer had maintained a perfectly neutral expression up until now. At that remark, she smiled. "That won't be a problem." In the blink of an eye, Lancer rushed at her. Or possibly teleported - Takeshi honestly could not tell. His thrust was aimed straight at her heart but abruptly deflected by her nodachi. He ducked under her riposte and followed up with a flurry of stabbing attacks, all parried neatly. 

Then, as rapidly as he'd attacked, he backed off, a look of confusion on his face. "Hang on a second. A second ago you were attacking with that bow, and now you're fighting like a master swordswoman. What the hell class are you? Can you switch classes?"

"Tell me Lancer, what do you know about the samurai?" TAkeshi asks, leaning on his staff.

"We're in the middle of a war here and you want to pick my brain? I know what a samurai is, and that Archer-Saber-whoever-the-hell-she-is is one."

Now Archer looked confused, though she didn't speak up to correct Lancer. If he didn't know what class she was, that was fine by her. If Takeshi chose to reveal her class - that wasn't terribly smart, but she'd still be fine with it. Mostly.

"Well I'll just leave it at that, let the fight commence!"

Lancer looked back at Archer, shrugged, and instantly went on the attack once more. This time, he seemed even faster than before - almost in multiple places at once, forcing the samurai to go on the defensive. They still seemed evenly matched, though their attitudes were polar opposite. Lancer was grinning, clearly enjoying himself, while Archer was taking the fight completely seriously.

After a while, just about when the mana drain was beginning to poke Takeshi in the face and remind him he wasn't a limitless font of magic energy, Lancer abruptly pulled back, deftly leaping out of range of a strike that tore apart the surface of the roof and balancing precariously on the far edge. "That was fun. We need to do that again sometime once the War really starts, though - that way I can actually kill you both."

"You can try."

"That sounds like an invitation."

Aaron looked at the place where the ruby vanished. He made sure he was out of any range before firing ice shards.

The shots splashed harmlessly off of...a completely different barrier. About ten feet in front of Aaron, an invisible wall shimmered into existence briefly as it was struck - a Bounded Field. The enemy magus, damn her, was smirking again, launching quickly into an incantation that he couldn't quite hear over the noise from the fight.

Aaron through in his last grenade before sheathing his magic pistols and taking out a normal automatic one. He fired at the girl with a hail of bullets.

The grenade ended up bouncing off the Bounded Field, and the ordinary bullets, if anything, seemed to do even less.

The field then shattered, however, pieces of the barrier fracturing like panes of glass. Judging by the other Master's expression, it wasn't supposed to do that.

"I agree, this has been a treat hasn't it? " Takeshi bows to Lancer, "Ok, so we found one servant, now where are the others?"

"Dunno. Even if I did I'm not about to tell you - you might get to them first."

Archer shot him a glare in lieu of telling him that Takeshi hadn't been talking to him, then turned and shrugged. "Lancer's the only one I've seen so far."

Aaron takes advantage of the bounded field going down. Aaron takes out his pistols again shots the master with fire and lightning rounds.

"We shal continue this fight another night, good day Lancer." Takeshi says, putting his staff against the building's border.

They dissipated harmlessly against the emerald barrier she was still maintaining. "Is that all you have? You got into the Grail War with that?"

Lancer fell backward, pushing off with his feet and rapidly jumping away. Archer did not attempt to shoot him as he left.

Aaron shrugs as he loads another clip into his pistol "The grail chose me so I have just as much reason for me to be here as you, who ever the hell you are."

"So much for three for three, Have fun with her/it " Drake said Stomping his front foot as a kick off to side step behind a tree, away from the now bade storm that was once rider and the IT while sending a boot sized stone rock into the air in front of him. Drakes arm the glowed deep blueish purl underneath his coat and ha punched the rock sending it flying like it was a artillery shell at the enemy master.

"Yeah, right." Obviously, Master of Saber wasn't convinced. Again, she produced a gem - sapphire this time - and threw it underhand, just beneath the shield. It skipped across the ground towards him, glinting with the light of built-up mana...

The rock impacted with the force of one too, kicking up a cloud of dust. When it cleared, though, Master of...Wraith...was unharmed, and a complex magic circle glowed beneath his feet. "You threw a rock at me? Are you some sort of trained monkey, incapable of actual magecraft?"

"To each there own" Aaron says shooting the gem. A barrier appeared around the gem stoping it from rolling towards him and containing what ever it was going to do.

The gem stopped in place, a good twelve feet or so away from him, trapped within a translucent dome. Then it detonated, easily shattering the barrier with an expanding globe of blue-white fire. It didn't hit Aaron, thankfully, but the heat rolling off of it was almost a physical blow in its own right, and the pavement had cracked and buckled from the stress.

After Lancer had disappeared, Archer seemed satisfied that nothing else was going to happen for the moment when suddenly her gaze snapped to a building near the river. "There. That burst of mana. Did you feel it too?"

"I did, let us go investigate." Takeshi sprints down the fire escape and heads toward the source of the mana blast. " Archer, stay on the rooftops if possible."

"I don't have any more grenades or flash bangs. Caster has Saber busy for the moment so" Aaron thought. He ran to the nearest source of cover he could find.

"Understood." As Takeshi sprinted towards the mana burst, he barely saw Tomoe's silhouette flitting past overhead, leaping the distance between buildings almost as easily as Lancer had been.

Upon arrival, they found a small battle taking place. A Servant, quickly identified as Saber by Takeshi's clairvoyance, was effortlessly fighting through a seemingly self-replenishing swarm of armored foes. No, animated constructs in the form of suits of armor. Really nice armor, too. A Japanese girl was standing nearby, protected behind an emerald-green rectangle of magical force. She only just seemed to have noticed them, breaking off pursuit of what appeared to be an off-duty soldier, who had ducked around a corner nearby.
