A World of Dust and Souls

Sterling blinked. "O...kay?" he says before seeing a couple of people standing over someone who had just fallen flat on their face. Sterling approaches the group. 

"Are you ok?"

"Oh no, falling on your face is really painful when you don't have aura." he said.

He got up and brushed himself off and smiled at the group, "The name's Vance, nice to meet yah!"

"I'm Sienna. Nice to meet you too." Sienna wondered if she'd heard that right. No aura? At Beacon Academy? She glanced at the other two students to see if they were as surprised as she was - and if they would introduce themselves in turn.

"That's interesting. Anyhow, Sterling Tikeri, it's a pleasure to meet you all."

Vance beams, "Sienna? Nice name."

He glances over to Sterling, "Oh nice to meet you, Sterling."

Looking over everyone, he scratches the back of his head with a smile, "And before you think anything else, I wasn't lying. I really don't have any aura. Kind of sucks but hey, what can you do?"

"Um...thanks?" Sienna said, a little bit flustered by the compliment. "I don't mean to sound rude, Vance, but...how did you get into Beacon if you don't have any aura at all?"

Vance smiled and pointed at her in his signature pose at this point, "Excellent question! You see, I actually have aura, it's just constantly being put into my semblance. As for how I got here," he pauses for a second, "I might have dropped a building on a ghoul in front of some hunters."

"You could have flown here on the airship with us." Sterling says, pointing his thumb behind him to the parked airship.

Sienna gave Sterling a flat look before turning back to Vance. "I'm guessing a Ghoul is a kind of Grimm?"

Sterling beams at her and turns back to listen to Vince.

Vance nods, "Oh yeah, big, antlers, skinny freaky limbs, screams like a drunk collage girl loosing her keys."

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his scroll.

"It looked like this." he says showing a picture from his phone.

Sterling looks at the picture. "My dad told me stories of these things but... damn."

"And you dropped a building on that?" Sienna's eyes were wide. "How?"

Vance's grin got even bigger, "With luck, two smoke bombs, a lot of fertilizer, a crate of dust crystals, and a blasting cap."

Sterling makes a low whistling sound. "Remind me to stay on your good side."

Vance blinks, "Why would I drop a building on you? Besides, what can I do here? This place only has a lot of dust, an armory, plenty of open space.... nevermind I could do a lot here."

"Please don't. I just got here, I don't want classes to be cancelled already because half the school blew up."

Vance smiles, "Don't worry, I'm not going to blow anything up unless the teachers tell me to."

He puts his scroll away and sticks his hands into his pockets, "So, ignoring the funny things, let's start this over."

He snapped his fingers and flashed a smile.



"The name's Vance White, Vale born and raised, headed to Beacon for a first class ticket to the high time of Hunters. How about you guys?"

"I'm from Mistrel, and I'm here to uphold the Tikeri name as a Huntsman."

Sienna blinked - hadn't she already introduced herself? "I'm...Sienna Drake and I'm here to become a Huntress...which you should know already."

"I meant why!" Vance declares.

He blinks for a second, "I totally messed up asking that didn't I?"

Nisha kept quiet the whole time because, to be honest, she found Vance to be quite an interesting person, just by how silly he is. She gave him a large smile as she outstretch her hand and held his, shaking it. "Nice to meet you! I'm Nisha"

"Hey, how's it..." Vance did a double take, his eyes all but shining when he noticed some key details about Nisha "Holy mac a snake faunus! That's so cool!"

Nisha's huge smile immediately left her face as she heard him say that. She froze inplace with look that wasn't quite horror but it has fear on it. She stared at him not blinking for bit before she pulls her hand away from him and laughed nervously, "Wh-what are you talking about?"

Vance blinked, "Well, the scales on your neck are showing, the way your pupils turn to slits when you're nervous... you're from Atlas aren't you?"
