The Godfathers

Noticing Krista step away from him, Odysseus asks, "What do you have against me?"

The Finn gave him a long look, silent, before very deliberately turning back to Emma without responding.

Odysseus rolled his eyes, annoyed that he didn't get a response to his question.

Emma frowned as she noticed the tension "is there something wrong between the two of you?"

"Not at all." Krista didn't care much for Odysseus based on what she'd seen of him so far, but she also didn't care much for getting bogged down in discussing it.

"I think I got off on the wrong foot with so many people today." Odysseus says.

Finally he realizes it... Krista said nothing, of course, but the edges of her mouth twitched upward in an almost imperceptible smirk.

"Can't we put whatever happened behind us?" Odysseus says.

Raizo looks at his watch, taking a mental note of how long it took Odey to realize this.

Done cleaning her sword, Emma gave it an appraising look before sheathing it. She grabbed another cookie before standing up. She glanced at the group, figuring they were all present "Guess those of you who want to have your powers unlocked should come with me."

Emma started to walk towards the stairs that led down to the Academy.

Krista followed her immediately, brimming with excitement.

Raizo followed as well.

Cayden follows behind the asian guy, though it was clear by the expression on his face, he wasn't entirely sure about this.

Emma led the group to a smaller concrete building. It contained one room, which looked exactly like the exterior. Emma stopped in the middle of the room and faced her followers "So you might be wondering what this building is. Activating powers can be messy, so this building is specifically designed to counteract sudden bursts of magic."

Emma crossed her arms, as she was trying to adjust to the cold interior "So this is how it's going to work. Think of your powers being stored within you - specifically inside a cocoon. From a evolutionary perspective, it would probably have been there to prevent angry toddlers from accidentally burning down entire villages. That said, all magic users will have to break it down in order to use their powers. The cocoon deteriorates as you age, which means that as one gets older A) you are easier to sense and B) you might unleash your powers in high stress situations potentially inflicting harm on yourself or others."

She then looked at her clock [19:15] before continuing "Simone said she'd bring in the forms...you know administrative bs as usual. So we have two ways of breaking down this barrier. First off you can meditate and slowly extract them over the course of years or I can break the barrier down with my magic. That's what I plan to do. Once the barrier is down, your magic will usually leave all at once in a burst and leave you in a tired state. Then the next few days as you regain your magic, you need to practice controlling it. Just relax, it's not dangerous. In fact, it's a lot of fun! Oh and you'll need these..."

Emma pointed at sunglasses on the table - apparently to protect from blinding flashes of light. Simone arrived with a red folder carrying the forms. She placed the forms next to the sunglasses and put on a set herself "These forms are just that you wore these sunglasses, you can't sue the Academy for whatever happens here and that you are willing to follow imperial law regarding the use of magic. Specifically that means in your former home-world, the use of magic except in self-defense is forbidden."

Raizo picks up a form and a pair of sunglasses, looks at the form, realized he can't read english, and signs his name in Kanji. Raizo then put the form back on the table.

Taking one of the red folders Achereon opens it as she signed her name along the line. Setting it down she then reached and took a pair of glasses. Slipping them on she steps up towards Emma. Why the hell not. With that thought in mind she stood there confidently. Not even sure if standing here was anything she needed to do. Reaching up she pulled the hair tie out so that her curly long hair could fall down along her shoulders and back.

"I'll go first, if that is even how this works."

Raizo steps backwards so he's nearly touching the back wall. "better safe than scorched."

*Used a number generator to decide order…*
“Actually, according to tradition we have the order determined by dice…or in this case random number generators” Simone said, pulling up her phone. [I’m afraid I already typed the whole post…]

Kaizu:
Emma took a deep breath as she prepared herself to unlock the powers of the demigods. She’d oriented Kaizu to face the far wall with his hands outstretched towards said wall. This position would force the burst, if it had a direction, towards the wall. Emma stepped behind Kaizu and placed a hand gently on his shoulder. She then carefully threaded her magic through Kaizu’s body towards the barrier. Carefully Emma removed layers from the barrier until she felt Kaizu’s power. Malcolm hadn’t been lying when he said Kaizu was strong. After a few seconds of hesitation Emma punched through the barrier and took a quick step back from Kaizu, closed her eyes and turned around.
Simone saw Emma quickly turning around and yelled “close your eyes!” The burst of light followed almost instantly, brightly illuminating the concrete room. The light then slowly faded, until Kaizu wasn’t glowing anymore. Simone pulled out her notepad and noted “Kaizu – light, sun or possibly fire domain.”

Jaron:
Following Kaizu, Emma had Jaron step up. He was told to stand in the same position as Kaizu, facing the far wall. Again Emma placed her hand on the shoulder and started to search for the barrier that kept Jaron’s powers dormant. It didn’t take her long to find, and she started to break down the barrier slowly. After a few minutes she could feel the pulse of power. Where Kaizu’s had a warm feel to it, Jaron’s felt cold.
“Get ready” Emma said quietly. The cocoon around Jaron’s power fell apart seconds later, causing him to turn dark as night – or more accurately to become a shadow on the ground. Emma knew immediately what Jaron’s domain was and mumbled something about how she hates when “they” do that. Focusing on the shadow form of Jaron, Emma cast some sort of magical connection, acting as an anchor. Then she used her powers to force Jaron into human form, appearing lying on the ground. Emma stood there looking a bit exhausted. Simone noted Jaron’s domain as “Emma’s favorite” in her notepad.

Odysseus:
Emma felt Odysseus’s magic long before she reached the barrier. His magic was pushing against the barrier, just waiting to be released. Emma figured that his barrier was going to be easy to break down and made her magic punch through the barrier.
Once through, water burst into every direction – spraying the gathered group. Emma tried to cast a shield, but the force of the water knocked her back onto the floor. Thankfully it was a short burst of water, and a drenched Emma managed to stand up with Simone’s help. Odysseus was completely dry. Emma attempted to smile “you should mark him down under water domain.”

Cayden:
Emma took a moment to recollect herself after the water-burst. Somehow she’d managed to land on her sunglasses and taken a break before continuing with Cayden “OK, please don’t be another water demigod.”
Emma placed her hands on Caydon’s shoulder. Within a few seconds his magic was unleashed. Nothing happened – or at least it wasn’t visible. Cayden could feel that his senses had sharpened. He could smell the lingering perfume on Emma. He could make out every brick on the far wall – each inscription, despite most of the wall not being lighted. Cayden could feel the presence of the other seven people, feel them shuffle in their spots. And he could hear simone whisper “no idea” as she scribbled something down on her notepad.
Then as quickly as the senses had taken hold, he abruptly lost the senses. He couldn’t smell Emma anymore, nor make out the far wall or her Simone scribble something down on the notepad. He didn’t know how long he’d been in that state, but Emma eventually shrugged and said “Guess something happened, but I don’t know what. You feel different? [You can choose to respond to that]”

Archereon:
Emma placed her hands for the 5th time on the next group member: Archereon. She allowed her magic to find her barrier, feeling her magic as some sort of desolate entity. Emma had never felt magic with that texture before. Nonetheless she quickly broke down Archereon’s barrier.
A blackened bolt of magic/lightning/fire or something blasted forth from Archereon’s hands, rippling quickly through the air. Within seconds it collided with the far wall, causing a deafening explosion. Emma couldn’t make out anything different about the wall – it had always had a darkened spot from earlier unlocking sessions, but she couldn’t help feeling a little uneasy about Archereon’s magic. She looked at Simone, silently asking about Archereon’s magic. Simone shook her head – she didn’t know what Archereon’s domain was.

Krista:
Finally, Emma got around to Krista. Krista had been the most eager about learning about her powers and naturally had to wait the longest. Emma kind of felt bad for Krista, but knew that Simone’s random – number – generator app had dictated the order. Emma placed her hand on Krista, like she’d done with the previous party members and looked for her barrier. It took her slightly longer than expected because Krista’s magic was hidden, but still strong.
“Get ready” Emma whispered into Krista’s ear, breaking down the last remnant of the Barrier. Krista immediately transformed into a llama, then a tiger and then into something unrecognizable/ scary. After that Krista started rapidly shape-shifting in her spot. Emma wasn’t expecting the shapeshifting, but knew Krista would run out of energy quick. Sure enough Krista’s shapeshifting slowed down quickly after a few seconds, leaving a wolf glaring at Emma. Emma smiled down at Krista and used her magic to turn Krista back into a human. A few seconds later Krista was laying on the floor, presumably confused. Simone noted “definitely nature domain. Or hunting domain.”

AFTERWARDS:
Simone looked over the students. They would be tired after using up their entire supply of magic. Even Emma seemed a bit dazed. Simone gathered up her supplies, notepad and forms “thank you all for coming. Thank you Emma for taking time to do this. Get some rest. All of You!”

Achereon looked in the corner of her of her eyes as she found his action quite amusing from how he didn't wish to get harmed by what ever may come to happen. She couldn't help but to wonder if this would unlock memories as well. What if they had all been able to use them and each and every one of their parents locked them away. What if her parents locked her abilities away. With these thoughts going through her head she began to wonder why if it was true.

It was to the point she hadn't even realized that Emma had gone and unlocked the others until she felt someone grab her. It wasn't harsh but it still had her stiffen a moment. Her eyes snapped to Emmas as she felt like someone was within her very own body. She held back a scream the feeling was not a pleasant one for her. She wasn't sure how the others had taken it but it felt like someone had tried to take her body over until suddenly a feeling washed over within seconds. The force of it moving along her body forced her hands back a moment as the dark purple nearly black lightening and mist of sorts shot out of her body. Shooting at the wall like all the rest before she felt tired, yet awakened.

Cayden felt almost excited from this sudden feeling of his ssenses sharpen, like something inside was chanting a mysterious chant though he would know it was a chant of aggression, of fighting not for honor. No. Fighting because it will be fun. He immediately grew disappointed and sadden as his senses return to being dull and...normal he guessed. Hearing Emma ask him something, he merely gave a responsive quick smile and nods his head. After Simone dismissed them, he stood there staring at the wall again wishing his senses would do what it did before, only to get nothing but dull human sneses.

the thoughts of what Raizo's powers could be buzzed around his head like an aggravated bumblebee. rather than say anything he just leaned against the wall, visibly exhausted. "I think we should listen to her."

Hearing the words of rest Achereon moved for the door. Walking along the walkway until she eventually found their living quarters. Pulling her key out from her shirt she unlocks the door and steps inside. Closing it shortly as she went to shower before bed.

Cayden glances at the asian guy, and nods his head, "Oh..uh yeah. That sounds like a good idea. See ya guys." He walks back to his room where the exhaustion finally caught up with him once he returned to his room. He flopped on the bed and dozed to sleep.

Raizo walked back to his quarters, decided that standing was overrated and passed out on his bed.

Krista blinked, and stood up. Or at least she tried - she felt like she'd been turned inside out several times and run over with a steamroller. Part of her mused that it must be a result of the stress of constantly changing forms (so fast that for the most part she couldn't even tell what she was before shifting again). The rest of her was just exhausted. With great effort, she managed to crawl to her feet and stagger back to her room, not getting into the bed so much as falling atop it and dropping into sleep almost immediately.
