Storm The Castle

Lydia's breath could easily be seen and she started shivering "WOW thats cold"

As the wave of frost swept across the chamber the light was almost entirely gone, leaving them in a miniature night. There were no sources of light within the palace itself; all the light had filtered in through the transparent ice that made up the structure. Without that darkness was near-complete, and without sunlight there wasn't a whole heck of a lot of heat either.

"Anyone have a light?"

Complete darkness enclosed them.

Lydia tries to find something to light on fire, but since everything was dark she was scrabbling in the dark

Felix removes the crown from his head and holds it in front of his face. He then starts mumbling pseudo-chanting phrases at the gem in the center of it, hoping this will pleases the cloak goddess and grant him the gift of light.

Lydia stops "If you are praying to your goddess for light I swear"

Lydia recalls that she has a certain combination of powdered herbs and roots that might serve as a small-scale explosive. Could be useful for getting through that door, to say nothing of light.

Lydia takes out the herbs, only those that were slightly flammable and lights them on fire for a small light "There we go"

The herbs burn with a scarlet flame, an abnormal color flames don't usually assume. It served as a passable light, though that still left the question of how they'd get through the door.

Lydia goes next to the door and starts working on a powder that would explode and destroy the door

The palace and the person who ostensibly lives in it offer no interruptions.

Once she was done Lydia started the fuse to the makeshift bomb

A burst of red flame disintegrated the door, blowing shards of ice inward. Sudden light dazzled the group; this section of the castle hadn't been frosted over. Once their eyes adjusted they were met with a breathtaking sight.

This was, by all appearances, the main chamber of the palace. The floor had a shimmering snowflake design seamlessly fused into the crystalline ice. A chandelier made from ice hung from the vaulted ceiling, filtered sunlight twinkling through it and lighting the room further. The ceiling itself was a geometric, fractal-based vault and the arched doorways (most of which were slammed shut) were decorated with engraved fractal patterns. Through the slightly translucent doors, the balcony was seen. Well, through one of them. Most of them seemed to lead to other locations within the palace.

Lydia walks into the main chamber "Nice place"

Felix looks around as well.

"Find anything?"

"Just ice."

"No s@#$"

The several doors were also unlocked. None of the doors seen so far had been locked, it was unlikely these would be either.

Lydia went to one of the doors and opened it to see it inside

Inside was a spiral staircase. That made sense; seen from outside, the balcony was only about halfway up the palace. It made perfect sense that there was more on a higher level.

"Found a staircase" Lydia says as she starts going up the stairs

Ascending the stairs, Lydia heard a startled gasp from above her. Suddenly, at the top of the staircase (which opened into a room), there was a flurry of blue light as a sheet of ice rapidly began to spread across the empty space.

Lydia runs up the stairs but doesn't get there in time to see past the ice "Damn"
