The Godfathers

The Falkenstein Scholarship meeting was set up inside one of the University of Vienna’s central buildings. In a letter that [your characters] received, it simply stated that the director wanted to meet in person before handing out the considerable scholarship money. Plane/train tickets had come with the envelope and directions to the meeting room. Apparently this was the type of scholarship that’s awarded to students without application.

It was late in the afternoon on a Friday. The last of the staff were leaving the building, ready to take a break from their work. The room was located on the second floor, in a classroom designed for 30 students. Just in front of the door stood a woman, presumably in her mid-thirties, dressed in business casual for the occasion. The nametag on her shirt read “Simone Osberg – Admittance Officer”.

After getting off the train, Odysseus walks around campus, looking at his letter and then looking up to see if he is in the right place.

Eventually, he stumbles upon his destination and looks at the woman. "Excuse me," he asks, "But is this the place where the Falkenstein Scholarship will be handed out?"

Krista Jantunen arrived just in time to catch the latter half of Odysseus' question, rounding the corner just then. "Yes, I'm here for the scholarship too - am I late?" she added in accented English.

Cayden never really did like flying on airplanes. He doesn't know why but it just makes him sick to the stomach but apparently that was his only way to get to the campus responsible for handing him the scholarship. After getting lost several times on the campus, he manages to find the building where he spots two other people around his age talking to a woman. He stayed qquiet and kept his distance to listen.

Raizo had just came out of a nearby elevator, hearing someone mention the scholarship he looks up from a piece of paper.

"I am here for the scholarship as well."

Odysseus turned to look at the new arrivals. Then he turned back to look at the admissions officer.

"Looks like we're all here for that scholarship."

Simone smiled at the new arrivals "Yes, this is the location for the Falkenstein scholarship. Please have a seat, we are waiting for a few more people to arrive. I've set up some refreshments near the front" Simone nervously gestured at a table with bottles of water, juice and cookies.

Simone then realized she hadn't asked about her new arrivals "Almost forgot [nervous laugh]. I'm Simone by the way. What are your names?"

"My name is Odie." Odysseus says before he helps himself to some of the refreshments.

Raizo bows to Simone. "My name is Raizo Hanamura, it's a pleasure to meet you."

"Krista Jantunen," She took a bottle of water with a smile and nod of thanks.

"Nice to meet you. I understand that some of you traveled quite far, so we hope this meeting will be worth the hassle" Simone smiled, checking the attendance sheet off "I got the same scholarship experience a few years back."

Odysseus pauses, cookie halfway to his mouth. He's not sure if he likes how the admittance officer said "experience."

Krista had picked up on it too, tilting her head to one side curiously. "Oh? What was it like?" she prompted, hoping to learn more.

Cayden remains silent as he reaches over for a juice box.

Raizo sits in a nearby chair and takes a drink from a bottle of water he grabbed.

Simone realized she'd said too much before the meeting even had started. She gave Krista a smile "It's a story that I'm saving for when the rest arrives."

Simone glanced at her wristband clock which read "16:48". There were still 12 minutes left till the meeting officially started.

Raizz reaches into his jacket pocket, pulling out a smart phone, a few secoa faint sound was heard.nds later,

Simone ready for a distraction spotted Archereon approaching and decided to greet her "you must be here for the Falkenstein scholarship, right? I'm Simone - admissions officer. What's your name?"

Simone pulled out her name checklist.

Odysseus just continues to eat his cookie.

He is still worried about the way Simone said "experience."

The door to the room opened and walked in a very confused man with tan, middle-eastern features. His entire was entirely too formal, like he had just come from a meeting of military generals. Upon seeing the room, he bowed respectfully.

"Apologies I am not normally late like this. My name is Jaron."

Simone went over to shake the hand of the final arrival "Nice to meet you. You can call me Simone. Please help yourself to some refreshments and have a seat."

Behind Jaron another man entered. He had black hair and dark brown eyes and was dressed neatly in a suit. Unlike Simone, he didn't have a name tag nor did he bother introducing himself. He took a seat in the back and ignored the rest of the room's occupants.

Simone looked annoyed at the newcomer and walked purposefully up to the front of the room "I want to welcome you all to Vienna. Many of you have come a long for the Falkenstein scholarship. On behalf of the Academy of Vienna we would like to welcome you here. I am Simone Osberg - admissions officer and [pointing at the man in the back] this is Malcolm O'Neil. He selected you for the scholarship."

Malcolm shrugged in response. Simone waited for the audience to face her again "However, while the scholarship is real, there is a more important matter for us to discuss."

Simone took a deep breath "I am Simone Osberg, daughter of Ullr, god of ice, skiing, duels and hunting." Simone looked glanced at the audience and settled her eyes on Krista "Perhaps know him from Norse mythology. You are too [Simone nervously caught herself]...I mean you also have one parent god. That's why you are here."

Simone stopped speaking and grabbed a bottle of water to drink. Her heart was racing from nervousness and decided to let her message sink in.

After a long silence, Krista spoke up. "Is...is that a joke?" If so, she didn't understand it - it was confusing and not funny in the slightest.

At this, Odysseus had to laugh. Where did Simone get this idea?

He looks at Krista and says, "Not laughing at you. Just laughing at Simone's idea of half gods."
