Thom found a sizable mace "How much?"

Alvor pauses briefly to reply, "150 gold," before turning back to Hadvar.

"Where have you been Hadvar?" he asks, "We've been so worried after all that has happened."

"All that has happened?" Hadvar asked, "What are you talking about?"

"You mean you don't..." Alvor begins, "In that case, you better come inside."

Alvor turns to head to the door, before turning back around,

"Ralof and your new friends better come too, they need to hear this."

Bzothan, who was currently hefting a steel sword, looked thoroughly uninterested.

Ilyssa followed Alvor, however. "What's this about?" It didn't sound like the smith was talking about the dragon attack.

Vaninir picks up an iron warhammer. "How much?" He asks.

"125 gold, but this comes first," Alvor says, walking up to the door of his home.

That couldn't be a good sign. Ilyssa followed the others inside.

Thom grabs the mace, drops the gold where it could be easily taken by the shopkeepers and then follows everyone outside

Vaninir does the same and heads out.

"What's this all about?"

Bzothan was meanwhile stacking ingots next to the forge.

"Whats going on?"

Ralof is the last one in, closing the door behind him,

"So what's going on?" he asks, "does it have to do with all of these walls being built?"

Alvor pulls a chair from the table and sits,

"Yes, it does," he says, "and there's no real easy way to say this..."

He lets out a long, pained sigh, before continuing,

"Whiterun has been razed to the ground."

"How?"

"Does that mean we get to fight again?"

From what little Ilyssa knew about Skyrim, Whiterun was an important city. That...probably wasn't good.

And then the Khajiit opened his mouth. The Breton fugitive rolled her eyes. "Please ignore him." she told Alvor.

The Khajit put his hand on the Breton's shoulder, having heard her remark "careful. you don't want to miss out on all the blood, honor and glory."

"And you will have to see all of it behind me"

"Just don't count on me coming to your funerals."

"Its not that bad"

"Sooner or later all end in the grave" Do'krin said "Do you want to die with glory and honor? The greatest rewards in battle."

"If you say so"

"Hmph. I'd prefer gold."

"I'd like people"

"I prefer battle as well." Vaninir says.

"Your wisdom is unrivaled amongst this group."

Hadvar, ignoring the group, stood with his mouth agape.

Ralof looked just as shaken,

"But...how?!"

Alvor shifted in his seat, continuing,

"Dragons came from the mountains, flying around the city. Before the guard could be mobilized, they began to burn the city, torching everything they saw."

He slumped, grief consuming him,

"The only reason so many survived was the sacrifice of the Jarl and his court. They managed to hold the dragons off while those that survived the initial strike escaped. Their fate is all, but guaranteed."
