"Yes I know that's what you've been saying. Words to action and lets go" Louis started walking, cautiously as not to step on branches or crunch the leaves too much.

Nick signals the group to follow him down a path that was zombie free

"No zombies? Lead on"

Ellis follows.

The absence of zombies was proving to be quite eerie, setting the whole group on edge. A raspy, rattling cough sounded from the treeline. Zombies didn't cough, from what they'd seen.

Suddenly, from somewhere in the trees (visibility was poor enough that they couldn't see where exactly) a long tendril shot out at Louis, wrapping about his neck and choking off his air. The only sound he could get off before he was hauled backwards by the neck was a brief gagging noise...hopefully enough to get the other Survivors' attention, because if it wasn't he was in deep poo.

Nick notices Louis getting halled away and shoots the thing choking him

The shots vanish into the darkness. Poor visibility meant Nick couldn't see what he was supposed to be shooting at, and on top of that one of the bullets smashed a car window, triggering a car alarm. A chorus of shrieks and howls rose from the direction they'd come from.

"Well shit"

"Here we go again." Ellis remarks.

Running footsteps heralded the approach of a swarm of zombies pelting as fast as they could for the car; and then changing targets to go after Ellis and Nick once they got within sight.

Nick opens fire at the horde

Ellis does the same.

The bullets tear into zombies; Ellis' shotgun blasts rip entire limbs off and in some cases even blow the zombies clean in half. Nick's pistol didn't have anywhere near the sheer power, but it certainly did the job with upper torso and headshots, which were plentiful given the dense mass of approaching zombies.

Despite their losses the zombies would simply clamber over the still-moving remains and continue their mad dash. They were gaining. Ever so slowly they were gaining.

"GET BACK" Nick screams as he starts to run away

James lobs a grenade in the swarms direction "eat shrapnel, deadheads!"

"Perfect idea get away sound sensitive zombies with more sound"

"Didn't ask you for a comment"

Louis meanwhile tries to struggle out of his assailants grip, hoping the rest of the party would perhaps help...

"I believe it was open ended"

The tendril still has Louis gripped tightly, pinning his arms. Fortunately it doesn't seem to be able to get him over or around the car, so he's not being dragged off into the woods.

Except then it started strangling him.

Most of the zombies were gone, though...That grenade was like a blender for them.

Ellis runs closer to Louis and shoots the tendril.

Nick runs closer to Louis as well and shoots in the dark trying to kill what ever strangled him

The bullets from Ellis' rifle tear the tentacle asunder and it slackens immediately, both sides of the tentacle falling limp instantly.

The third shot from Nick's pistol hits something with a dull, wet smacking noise followed by an asthmatic noise that sounded like "Yesh."

"Well that sounded like it worked"

Whatever it was answered by dissolving into hacking coughs.
