Re: Imperialism
[well duh. what else can be allowed, a certainly dumb Sarah Palin making another lame comment about being able to see Russia from her house or seeing a squirrel flipping off the eagle before it gets eaten?]

The US sights a very smart bald eagle flipping off Russia in Alaska.

Re: Imperialism
President WIN wrote:
Brazil sends 1 billion dollars to Germany dependent on truly democratic elections, warns them that should another dictator rise to power or should Germany show any agression to the Brazilian states of France, Switzerland, Portugal, or Spain, Brazil will not hesitate to jump right back into the midst of the hellish throwdown.
Brazil did pay money to Germany, contingent on their good behavior.
Second of all Brazil also celebrates the peace, brought about by their magnanimous withdrawl, and, although they won, don't really care if the Soviets take credit - the Soviets would take credit for their being more squirrel farts in the U.S. than in the USSR.
(Also, why no extrasolar colonies? They wouldn't be of any help here on earth, but it would be fun to have them...)

Re: Imperialism
[I've played once with extrasolar colonies. It pretty much ruined the game.]
[Also, if either you or Alex want in on the big fight in Halcyon, go there and post your four people. Shota, Brandon and Ian already joined it and I'm going to.]

Re: Imperialism
(Okay, and also, I'm curious as to how they ruined it. I wouldn't think they could have any impact at all. In fact, I wouldn't think that a government here on earth could control extrasolar colonies at all. I'd love to hear the story.)

Re: Imperialism
[No, it led to a series of wars between China, Russia, the US, and East Timor that I couldn't keep a handle on because there's no logical precedent for how to run those sorts of things. Science fiction writers have the luxury of controlling the action of every state in their world. I, as DM, am somewhat more limited in my ability to do so. Long story short, it turned everything (wars in particular) into a massive fustercluck that ended with the Russian guy mounting rockets on the far side of the moon and slamming it into earth.]
Re: Imperialism
(Holy... wow, I think they took it a little too far, but oh well - by the way, check my post in Halcyon, I'd like some feedback.)

The US offers a peace-driven alliance to Pakistan, in hopes of gaining a better understanding of a misunderstood culture.

Re: Imperialism
[How about adding holographic communications? You know, like the one in Star wars, where they communicate to each other. That might work with the tech, right? And Alex, yes, Mr. Mooney is the all awsome and all powerful guy, but don't use him.]

Re: Imperialism
[Entirely workable and non gamebreaking, so you could do that. It'd cost less money just to use Skype though. Which does pretty much everything except look quite as awesome.]
Re: Imperialism
The US has received an answer from Pakistan. They accept with mich enthusiasm, while requesting the US acts as meditator between Pakistan and India, to which the US agrees.

Re: Imperialism
An inflammatory editorial column found on the Web regarding the Communists:
- Spoiler:
- The USSR
The Soviet Union as it exists today was founded by a benevolent and extremely talented man named Oleg Sarov. His policies have molded the nation into the foremost military power on Earth, surpassing even the mighty United States. Boasting the largest and one of the most well-equipped militaries in history, the Soviet Union stands at the helm of the International Communist Coalition, a loose political-military alliance between the USSR, People's Republic of China, and assorted other Communist states. While Sarov's benevolent rule has often been mistaken for democracy (and his policies have carried over into the other ICC countries), he still retains ultimate power over the might of his nation, and perhaps his successor will not possess the foresight and wisdom the current Russian leader is blessed with...
The PRC
After having their economy gutted by American employment reform, the Chinese government would have collapsed but for aid from their close allies in the Motherland. After that, the ChiComms have been increasingly wary of America and the West in general. They maintain this attitude despite Sarov's friendly attitude toward Western nations, and their MSS has a very close eye on the line of succession to Soviet rule, the better to ensure that seat is occupied by someone more friendly to Chinese interests...
The DDR
The Deutsch Democratic Republic, otherwise known as Communist Germany, is the third most important of the ICC nations. They are largely passive, as the German Premier is of similar mind to Sarov in terms of foreign policy, but the roots for true military power are still there and a growing nationalistic movement is on the rise, curiously out of place for the 21st century...
