Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
The other vampire used the opportunity (the time that Dezenn uses to hurl the dagger) to swipe at Dezenn with his sword.

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
Dezenn jumped backwards and the blade sliced through the air inches from her stomach. She quickly stowed the sling in a pouch and grabbed a spike in either hand; the vampires didn't seem to be wearing much armor to speak of and at the moment there wasn't much room to be using a sling.

Octavion slashes impales one vampire on his sword while Anastasia shoots at another.

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
David fights his vampire into a corner, making its agility for naught.
The vampire behind Octavian holds its sword to his throat "drop your sword."
Anastasias's target dodges the shot of the bow, coming closer to her (making her bow useless against it).
Dezenns vampire thrust again with his sword at her, but staying out of the daggers range.

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
Dezenn slid to one side and hurled one of the spikes, which caught the vampire just below the neck and put it down handily.
Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
David gets his vampire to lay down its weapon. Then David knock it down on the floor, for questioning.
As/if Dezenn looks around for her next opponent, she sees that only Octavian and Anastasia have any left.

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
Dezenn, opportunistic as always, took the time to sneak up behind one of the vampires as it was distracted dealing with its opponent in front (namely, Anastasia.) Suddenly she lunged forward, locking one of her arms around the vampire's neck and pulling it backwards, overcoming its supernatural strength with leverage and positioning while she planted a spike up into the base of its skull.
Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
The vampire died pretty quickly, not knowing what had hit it. Anastasia's second vampire changed tactics and swung his sword at Dezenn.
Octavian's first vampire was swinging his sword at Octavian's head, while the other one swung at the torso.
David meanwhile chains his vampire to the Holy Catapult.

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
A large map of the empire was spread out in front of Ophela, around the map were her top advisers. With the coup d'etat successful she was evaluating the effects.
"Ophela, with the succ..." one of the vampires started.
"Empress! Don't forget I am an empress!" Ophela said.
"Your highness, now you are the Empress of the Empire. The northern provinces and cities have basically accepted their new ruler. Unfortunately we have rebels in the south and some human kingdoms uniting against us."
"That could be troublesome, considering that the humans have a lot more soldiers they can field against us and that they have allies who are not too fond of vampires. However, since I have access to royal jewels, I can solve that dilemma." Ophela said, holding up an amulet covered in gold "this is a magical amulet, which I can use to summon the Winter God. You see, I have found where he slumbers, and now with the strength of the amulet, I can summon him to do my bidding. I shall head north within the hour and awaken him."

Davids sword meanwhile connects with one of Octavian's vampires neck. Both alive vampires decide to run, seeing that they have lost pretty badly "Stop them from running or they will get more!"

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
"If they get more we shall defeat them again." Nonetheless, the thief loaded her sling up again and planted a spike in the back of the rearmost vampire. Dezenn then turned her attention to acquiring shiny and important-looking artifacts. The Church of Okmentok appeared wealthy enough to spare some precious metals to pay for her services.
Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
"Don't even think about it" snarled David, as if reading her mind. Then he nodded at the vampire chained to the catapult "we've got more important matters to attend to."

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
Dezenn held her hands open, palms out, to show David she was actually holding nothing. "You are too suspicious, guard. Not everyone is out to break your laws."
Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
"You are distracting us. There is a vampire chained to the catapult, and we should see if he wants to talk!" David retorted. He could have sworn that Dezenn was holding something.

Dezenn folded her arms. "I am doing nothing. You're the one throwing around wild accusations and getting caught up in silly things like laws."
Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
"Laws protect citizens, they are there to punish those who kill and steal. However, some people feel the need to bend laws to their desire" David said.

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
The end of Dezenn's mouth twitched upwards in a half-smile. "Really now? Who could that possibly be?"
Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
"Let's see, how about ..." David said, pretending to search his memory before continuing in a louder voice "...anyone who was in my prison"

Dezenn clapped her hands to her mouth in mock horror. "You mean...you're breaking the law?!" Under her hands she was grinning broadly. This guy was entirely too easy to drive insane.

"Clearly you don't understand. I guard the prison so that people like you don't break the law"

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
"Even smarter would be chaining you to the catapult" said David, fists clenched while trying hard not to strangle Dezenn.

David looks at him annoyed "Can't you see I am busy!"

Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
Dezenn heard the wizard's remark and immediately went at the nearest vampire and pried its mouth open, ostensibly to inspect the teeth. If the wizard was going to get vampire fangs he'd pay for them, and he'd pay a lot. Wizards tended to be rich; Dezenn was no expert on the arcane, but she knew that of the two ways to use magic, thaumaturgy required expensive materials almost by definition and praecantation was so risky as to almost nullify its huge power potential.
Re: Trolls and Trinkets 2e
"In that case you won't mind me taking a few vampire fangs" the wizard said, pulling out one of the fangs with his glowed hand. He turned to Dezenn "careful, vampire fangs have some toxin in them."
Meanwhile the queen caught up to the rest of the group, now wearing commoners clothing "I heard rumors that Ophela is heading north. Why would she do that?"
