[Yeah, Lorenzo is a werewolf.]

Neither of the two lowered their weapons. Barrek said, "If something is loose around here as you claim, how do we know these two (with a nod in the direction of the Russians) aren't dangerous? Could they be the culprits?"

Vlad tells everyone, "We CAN be dangerous IF you give us a reason to be."

Rasputin nods and begins to draw his weapon.

*Meanwhile, elsewhere in the unknown plane*

Suddenly, the alternate Columbus' crew is attacked by a swarm of werewolves, which claw at and wound several of them.

Suddenly, they stop and back away. A glowing white stag walks towards the group stopping in front of Columbus.

"Who are you, outsider?"

Columbus looks pompous. "I am Christopher Columbus! A more apt question would be, who are you, that you demand answers of me?"

(What is that about Columbus, I'm assuming that he isn't near Tucker)

The inquisitor was about to respond to the accusations, when a scream broke him in mid sentence "good point, however...(Scream)" He ran to see what the trouble was, as is human instinct, to see a farmer and his wife getting attacked by wolves defended by four guards (there was another guard but he was already shredded into human bacon strips). The wolves were slowly circling the group, the runes glowing which had been painted on them. The inquisitor stood there and watch a guard stick a sword into the wolf in attempt to cut off its legs: The wolf quickly grew back the legs. Then it took a swipe at the guard, the claw had gone through the armor of the guard and as if that wasn't enough the guard turned into another wolf.

The inquisitor turns to Vlad and Rasputin "looks like you get your chance to be dangerous." Then he pulls out his sword and uses it as a aiming device for his magic (I hope it is OK if he is a cryomancer), and fires a beam that freezes three wolves of the seven present. Only to find them thaw with the help of their runes, glowing a gentle red. A guard uses the freeze spell to stab one of the wolves through the heart while it still is in the process of thawing. The wove falls and dies, turning into dust. For the trouble the guard was killed by the other two wolves, who had just unfrozen.

The inquisitor stands for a second and recollects his thoughts: a stab through the heart was the wolves weakness, but the wolves were so fast that it was near impossible to reach the heart with a sword. Magic is pretty harmless against these wolves and they have un-natural healing powers. Well, he had a duty to Tucker, and so he decided to go down the slope to help the remaining guards now numbering two against the six wolves remaining (pure suicide).

[On to battle!]

Lorenzo, after the Inquisitor ran off, glanced at Barrek and then followed him. Barrek lowered his staff somewhat reluctantly away from the two Russians and sprinted after the two other humans, albeit unable to catch up to them because of his just plain being slower.

Lorenzo arrived on the scene just in time to see the two wolves cut down one of the guards. His crossbow already loaded and ready, he let out an inhuman-sounding snarl (as a matter of fact, it sounded positively like a large wolf) and loosed a bolt right into the side of one of the wolves. It missed the heart, but the arrow was surrounded by a sheathe of burning radiant energy that was indeed affecting the heart and would make movement of any sort quite difficult. The bard loaded another crossbow bolt, deciding that entering in melee combat was only going to get him mobbed by wolves.

His wizard companion arrived just as Lorenzo fired the second bolt, this one sinking deep into a lupine shoulder but not affecting the heart whatsoever. Having not been there to see the ineffectiveness of the Inquisitor's cryomancy, he pointed his staff at one of the closer wolves and something like a bolt of smoky lightning shot from it and into the ground under the wolf's paws. A bare fraction of a second later a burst of energy erupted from the ground, tearing into the wolf and, if nothing else [I'll leave the effectiveness of a magic attack up to you, Paul], it threw it about a dozen feet straight up in the air.

Meanwhile, off in the distance. Several Elves watch the fight. The smallest, a Female with dark purple hair, stands up and walks to a tree.

"What is it Iriana?" A larger Elf says. He wears a green cloak, and has hair which is green, and vine like. He walks over to her and looks back at the battle. "They appear to be handling themselves well."

Iriana looks at him and rolls her eyes. "We should help them."

A second female elf walks up. Her hair is silver like the moon, and her skin is pale white. "You know why we can't do that Iriana."

Iriana looks over back at the battle. "Yeah yeah. By the way, Where is Narun?" She looks around and the fourth elf is missing.

The second female curses and climbs a tree with cat like speed. "He is going to ruin everything! We got to stop him!"

The dwarven island outpost of Stirken reports anomalous magical energies to the dwarf capital, but not much is thought of it.

Meanwhile, far to the north, the outpost towns of Thieron and Jardeune are attacked simultaneously by a combined goblin-orc army.

A man hooded and cloak watches up close. He smirks and raises his staff. Suddenly Iriana grabs the staff and pulls him back. She puts a finger to her lips. "Are you trying to get us in trouble?" She whispers harshly.

(OK, here is the effectiveness of Lorenzos magic) With a splat the Wolfe hit the ground. The rune was glowing, trying to heal the wound. The wound was the whole belly bleeding (and the legs broken). However as the rune was trying to heal the wolf, one of the guards stabbed the wolf. It dissolved into a fine dust.

5 more wolves to go...

The inquisitor tried a few more ice bolts. All of them were useless. A direct magical attack wasn't the best way to deal with these enchanted wolves, but Lorenzo's (it was Lorenzo right?) spell had made the wolf fly and drop causing the wolf to get injured enough for the rune not to heal effectively in the time needed. The inqusitor turned to Lorenzo "how many of those spells could you do? The spell seems to disable the wolves long enough in order to stab a sword through them."

When he turned back to the battle he saw the farmers come running off into the fields, presumably hiding. The trees on the left looked ominous but there was no sign of another pack (as of yet). There was a wolf that caught his attention, trying to sneak around the road and toward the Inquisitor and his new "friends". He knew that the wolf was better suited for the forest and decided to stay on the road to keep an eye on it...

[Paul: No, Lorenzo's the one shooting them with the crossbow. Barrek is the wizard.]

Barrek smirked in response to the question and performed the spell again on another wolf. "I could perform that particular spell quite a lot of times. It's really rather simple." He resisted the temptation to launch into an explanation of how it worked and concentrated on demonstrating it on the wolves instead.

Narun frowns. "They are strong, aren't they Iriana…"

Iriana lets go of his staff. "You still haven't answered my question."

Narun smiles and sits down next to a tree. "I don't need to…" he holds out his hand and a small blade of grass rips itself out of the ground and wraps itself into a tiny grass elemental. "I only need to be this close to see what is really happening." The little grass elemental, about the size of a dime, runs up and silently clings onto the pants of the inquisitor and climbs into the inquisitor's pouch.

The farmer who was hiding in the field thought the guards and newcomers could handle the wolves now that Barrack had a effective spell and the guards were ready for the stab through the heart. The farmer put his foot on the wolf that Vlad had killed to show off, but he hadn't expected the wolf to be alive. The wolf was laying upside down to hide the glow of the rune (painted on its back) and now was jumping up at the farmer. The farmer never had a chance. Before he could blink the wolf had jumped up and used its claw to kill him...

The wolf running around the battle through the trees was approaching Barrack, presumably to surprise him. The Inquisitor had lost sight of the wolf an yelled at Barrack in warning. He then froze the wolf who had just killed the farmer with his remaining magic (using magic for ones job really drains one), and then proceeded to stab it.

4 more wolves to go...

Lorenzo saw it too, and rushed towards the approaching wolf. As he ran, his body shifted and he himself became a wolf, albeit a somewhat larger one with a shaggy dark coat. Snarling, Lorenzo-the-wolf collided with the incoming wolf and bowled it right off its feet. Immediately he ripped at its belly with his claws, then lunged for the throat.

The Inquisitor was battling a wolf that had just approached him. The wolf and the Inquisitors sword skill matched perfectly. In other words no one could get a stab or in certain cases claw at each other. He knew that he didn't have enough magic, but Barrack if he was still alive, it was too difficult to tell, could blow the wolf up in the air so the Inquisitor could stab it. For good measure the Inquisitor tried to freeze the wolf. Yes, no magic left and hopefully Barack was still alive...

Lorenzo ripped the wolf's throat wide open and left it to die. He cannoned out from the trees and broadsided the wolf fighting the Inquisitor. Unable to tear its throat out as well from the angle he was at, he laid its shoulder open to the bone and leapt backwards before it could retaliate.

Barrek decided to take a more offensive approach. He raised both hands, spoke a word of power, and then brought both fists down. This had the effect of increasing and concentrating gravity on one of the wolves. It seemed to crouch, then there was a sickening series of cracks and what was left was a shapeless mass of fur [assuming a geomantic spell like that to work, which is your call, Paul].

The inquisitor has no time to thank Lorenzo for his help. Instead he slashes his sword at the wolf that Lorenzo had ripped the throat out of, while watching one of his remaining guards kill the one Barrack was holding to the ground.

1 wolf to go (Lorenzo killed 1, injured 1 [finished by the Inquisitor, and guard & Barrack teamwork killed yet another one)

The last wolf knew it was pointless to fight. And it ran toward the elves hiding spot (did it know they were there?). The inquisitor and his guards were too tired to chase it and decided against chasing it...

Suddenly, a burst of light pulses out of a dead wolf, taking the shape of the wolf, before walking over to the group.

"Impressive. I haven't seen such effective hunters in many centuries."

He then glances at Lorenzo and smiles,

"It seems one of you has already tapped into the power of the beasts."

He turns back to the rest of the group, looking directly at Lorenzo.

"You and the rest of your group have proved more than worthy of my....boon. That is, if you wish to have it."

Meanwhile, a lone human figure races through the forest, having heard the scream. Although he knows he likely won't make it in time, he is duty bound to try.

This man has jet-black hair, shoulder length, currently tied back in a pony tail. His face seems permanently set in grim ridges, and bears a stubble from half a week of not shaving. Looking at his face, if he were from earth you might call him Spanish, fair skinned as he is. He stands an unabashed six foot three inches tall.

However your impression would be ruined by the fact that he wears what appears to be a ninja's tunic, with overly broad shoulders designed to provide lift for long jumps. He wears a pair of otherwise unadorned grey silk trousers, which are belted with a black sash at the waste and is barefoot. Everything about him seems to be about speed and silence.

However, just as one might imagine him a ninja, that impression too, is shattered. In his right hand he carries a five foot long blade, which, except for its incredible size, appears to be a cross between a rapier and a katana, and which crackles with electricity. In his left he holds a old book, shod in faded green leather.

The Inquisitor tired of the wolf pursuit decided to ask his new "friends" if they wanted to heal and rest in the guard house. Then he ordered one of the guards to do the usual "get a priest, tell the family" if somebody died. That guard in turn made the other surviving guard do it (for he was lower rank).

The Inquisitor turned around to see the lone human figure (the one two posts back). With a sword. This in training generally meant an attack and so by instinct the Inquisitor pulled out his sword which had just been sheathed. Then he said "Barrack, Lorenzo, Vlad, and Rasputin over there" pointing at the man who ran toward them.

(Assuming the human figure is my guy.)

The man stops running as he reaches the edge of the forest, and emerges into the clearing where the battle took place, and as the breeze blows against his face, he surveys the scene, with its strange peopling and bestial carnage.

"What has transpired here?" He asks the assembled group.

(Oh, and I also forgot to mention; his left eye is replaced by a large sapphire, and there are crystals similarly studded into his left arm, although because of his sleeve, the only one you would notice would be a large crystal embedded in the back of his left hand.)

[Paul, Barrek's name is spelled that way for a reason. It's pronounced BEAR-ick, whereas the way you're spelling it it would be pronounced bar-OCK.]

Lorenzo looked confused at the wolflike apparition. Barrek asks it what sort of boon it means to bestow upon the group, trusting that somebody else (likely not the slightly confused Lorenzo) will see to the explanation for the newcomer.
