Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
Noticing the perfect times to press the buttons led directly into noticing that Uber, who was playing, was pretty much timing everything perfectly.
It also led to Leet noticing Grant noticing the gameplay. "And who's this guy?"

Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
He then noticed the man about to speak about noticing him notcing the gameplay. He blinks out of it and looks at Leet, "I'm one of the new recruits."

"Yeah, I'd figured that part out, but what's your name?"
Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
"Grant Morrison. Now what is your name?"

"Leet. This is Uber," he motioned at London and Sarah, "and those are two people who think secret identities are overrated, apparently."
Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
"Right. Pleased to meet your acquaintance, Leet and Uber." He then glanced at London and Sarah, having no interest in either, goes back to loook at the game.

Leet shook his head. If Uber noticed his newly-expanded audience he gave no sign of it. Pretty clear what their priorities were.
London and Tom noted that Impetus' last member was nowhere to be seen. Either not here or didn't care enough to come out of the lab to meet the newcomers, evidently.

Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
London and Tom were in charge here...Tom was probably capable of taking the initiative here, wasn't likely that London would override him unless he was being blatantly stupid or something.
At any rate they had a few options that came to mind readily:
At any rate they had a few options that came to mind readily:
- Social hour. Get to know the new recruits, at least as much as they were willing to share. Uber and Leet probably wouldn't help much with this but screw them, four people's one more than a crowd so that ought to work.
- Hash out the details of Grand and Sarah's new cape identities. Neither had a codename, really, and admittedly rather rudimentary costumes. That was going to have to change before they did any field work.
- On a similar note, find Sandstorm. She was the only member they hadn't been introduced to yet, which was a shame. Also unlike Uber and Leet, she wasn't liable to be a total pill and scare off the new meat.
- Work that out later and get to the planning board. Lung wasn't going to kill himself, after all. Well, assuming no mind control capes got involved. At any rate that would help establish to the newbies exactly how Impetus does things.
- Go out on patrol and bust some heads. The costumes Grant and Sarah had weren't flashy but they'd work, and this would help the two boys in charge learn how the newcomers' powers and thought processes worked.

Grant walks over to Uber and Leet, leaning over to see the game they were playing as he then said out loud. "So is there some sort of orientation we new recruits have to undergo?"

The pair looked at him, then at each other, then back at him. "Yeah...now that you mention it, there is actually!"

Sonorous opens his mouth, but decides staying silent is the best course of action.

London slowly walks up to both of them, and as gently as he could crack a knuckle upside their heads. Not enough to damage anything, but it still hurt.
"How about instead of doing something that completely goes against sensible thought, you use your imaginations to help come up with some cape names for our new friends."
He stops looking at both Grant and Sarah.
"Knowing your powers will help with that."

Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
Leet muttered something highly uncomplimentary followed by something else about "unsafe working conditions."
Uber, in contrast, just rubbed at the spot where he'd been hit. "But of course, that's exactly the initiation we were referring to, boss-man! You didn't let us finish." Lying is a skill, naturally.

Grant frowned a bit as he was getting rather impatient and irritated at how unprofessional these two acted, still he would not speak his mind.

"You do kinda need to tell us your powers, though, unless you want a name that makes absolutely no sense whatsoever." Leet pointed out after a few moments of Grant and Sarah not volunteering any information.
Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
It took Sarah a second to realize she was being asked to explain what exactly her powers were. To be honest, she wasn't exactly sure how best to describe it, but she figured she'd try to give a rough outline "I have some electric manipulation powers. Specifically, absorbing electricity from nearby sources and releasing electric charges. I also seem to have a pure energy form, although it wasn't exactly a fun experience to find out about that, so I have refrained from using it much."
Sarah had taken out a pen from one of her pockets and had without noticing started playing with it while explaining her powers, interrupting her speech occasionally by an annoying click sound.

Grant sighs as he rubs the side of his temple. "From what I can call it I have enhanced cranial processing capability. Which one way to describe it I can visually see the wings of a humming bird. My brain can process fast enough to count all the feathers on that said wings. These include but not limited to my other senses."

Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
Uber stroked his chin thoughtfully. "So we need an electrical-based name and what, something about thinking?"
"Sounded more like perception to me, at least in effect. Quit with the pen." Leet directed the second sentence at Sarah.
Meanwhile, Uber had produced a laptop and was typing away. "So a few users on PHO put together this neat little tool that helps suggest codenames, let's see about that...let's see, keywords 'absorption,' and 'electricity'...I'm locking it to single words so it doesn't try and suggest something lame like Lightning Lady." He stopped typing and, with an unnecessarily dramatic flourish, pressed the mousepad. "Ooh, nice! How does 'Overload' sound?"

Sarah hadn't notice her clicking, but upon being told to stop immediately did so "Well, 'Overload' certainly beats 'lightning lady' - so I'll take it!"

Uber and Leet high-fived one another before turning to Grant. "And now for you - if you're willing to accept our branding expertise anyway."
Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
"Vigil." Was all he said. Just from the expression on his face says he was not going to change his mind.

Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
There was a pause, before Uber and Leet glanced at each other. "Sounds alright, actually." Leet said after a moment.
Re: Paradigm Shift II: Official Hero Boogaloo
London looks everyone over with a small grin.
"Overload and Vigil, not bad at all."
He cocks a small look at Tom, waiting for his opinion.

On the television, Uber's character threw a hat at a turnip and became the turnip.
