A World of Dust and Souls

Tyson just looked at her.

"What?"

"You're a smart guy, figure it out."

Nisha quietly moved to sterling and whispers, "Im not sureifyou arethe right person to ask but can I be one of the bridesmaids?"

"I'm not sure I'm the one who controls that."

"Darn ok. Hold on." Nisha walks past Sterling and goes over to Opil and whispered something in her ear. Probably the same question she asked sterling.

if Sterling wasn't in the presence of literal royalty, he would facepalm so hard this would happen. 



Sterling did not do that, instead he maintained his composure. "If it's all right with everyone, why don't we head inside. I'm sure the flight was exhausting."

"Sounds like a plan to me," Sienna said, reaching to pull Nisha away from Opal before the princess could sustain irreparable damage.

Nisha pouts a bit and decidednot to make a scene.

"Yes, it has been too long since I've stepped foot in Beacon," Lord Virmir announces.

Without even waiting for anyone else, he starts heading to the castle. Opil quickly follows behind, looking warily at Nisha as she does so. Stephon holds out an arm, which Jeanne gratefully accepts. Nathan smiles and follows them. Tyson follows as well, but he goes out of his way to put Sienna between him and Nisha.

Everyone managed to get into the school without something exploding, much to the surprise of Nathan.

Now, everyone was in the visitor's lounge, with the Beacon students on one couch with the visitors across from them. Between them, thankfully, was a nice small coffee table. Nathan was pouring Sterling's parents and the king of Mistral cups of tea.

No one knew where he got the set from, they didn't see him arrive with it, it just appeared when the King asked for tea.

To make matters worse, Opil was sitting next to Sterling, shifting nervously.

Eventually, the King stopped and looked at the team before him.

"So, you're team SNST correct? Tell me about yourselves, or ask a question, not everyday you sit with royalty."

Nisha raises her hand, "If Sterling becomes royalty, does that make us his team royal guards or something along that line?"

"The royal guards are always looking for new recruits," Nathan comments.

Lord Virmir nods in response, "Indeed if he wishes to bring you to Mistral, you shall be offered the same titles and benefits as one would expect from a member of the royal battalion. Land, wealth, all shall be yours, provided that you keep to your oaths and protect your charge."

Sterling, finally finding some semblance of a conversation hook, turns to Opal. "So Opal, is this your first time in Vale? "

She nods as fast as her head would allow.

"This is my first time outside of Mistral city."

Nisha leans over to Sienna, "Any advice on how to convince sterling to let us be his royal guards?"

Sienna shrugged. "We're his teammates, we're already a good choice, aren't we? Probably wouldn't take much convincing."

"The royal guard is always looking for fresh blood." Nathan comments.

Lord Virmir nodded, "Indeed. So long as you keep your charge safe and protect the people of Mistral, you shall have all the titles and privileges that such a positional shall entale."

"A house, land, and more money than you know what to do with."

"So does Sterling just pick out who he wants as his bodyguards and that's it? Or do you guys have some kinda training thing we'd have to go through first?"

"You will be put through the standard training that all recruits are expected to undergo. However, because you have been personally selected, your training will, of course, will be personal as well." Stephon explains.

"It's not to bad, we made it through," Jeanne smiles.

Stephon just takes a drink, a really, really long drink.

"...That makes it seem like it's pretty bad, not gonna lie."

"Well, to each there own." Jason comments.

Virmir sets his cup down as the doors to the hall opened, revealing a stoic Headmaster and a seething head mistress. Ozpin took a long sip of his coffee while Glynda glared daggers at everyone present. Virmir barely even blinked at them, breaking out into a grin and reaching out a hand.

"Good to see you again Ozpin."

"Likewise your majesty." Ozpin says, matching his smile and taking the offered hand.

Aura flared, and for a second it looked like they were more interested in breaking one anothers hands than actually shaking. The moment passes and Virmir sits back down, while Ozpin and Glynda opted to stand behind their students. Tyson suddenly felt very out of place.

"So, what brings you to my school? I've only received notice that you wished to land, other details were not as forthcoming."

"That was my mistake," Stephon says, "The suddenness of our arrival made things quite interesting."

"I'm sure," Ozpin drawls.

Jason took the opportunity to take a step forward.

"Honorable headmaster, I apologize, but the lord insisted."

"Be that as it may, this is quite the gathering. A Lord, Princess, General, Dutchess, and a War Hero are in my school, with only tea to serve them. Where are my manners?"

"Where they're suppose to be," Glynda grumbles.

"Regardless, I believe this has given us the chance to speak in private, Ozpin." Virmir comments.

"Very well," the headmaster glances down at the team, "Students, return to your studies, you have some make up that needs to be done."

"Actually," Jason voices, "The princess has requested that she remain with the students."

Ozpin's eyebrow quirked slightly upward.

"Oh?"

"Yes, and I know how important Beacon takes the protection of it's information. As such, I purpose that the students and the princess have an outing."

"You mean a mission?" Glynda says.

"Exactly, the local law enforcement has said that they encountered a particular group working these parts. I say the students, and myself, go and take care of this problem. Call it a... community service gesture."

Ozpin slowly nods his head and glances down at the students.

"If they wish, they may go."

Tyson turns his head and glances expectingly at Sterling.

Sterling, caught mid-sip, set his glass down. "I have no qualms with this mission, what say all of you?"

"Yes let's do it!" Nisha jumped out of her chair, clearly pumped up and punches Sterling in the shoulder, rather hard actually.

"... are we going after criminals?"

"They don't have their aura unlocked, should be a piece of cake." Jason says.

"... there's a big should in that sentence."

"You're no fun."

"C'mon Tyson, how hard could it be?"
