THE BASICS RP

The king has the body examined closely for any way to figure out what the hell happened. Meanwhile Olaf demands progress reports on the Pelsjord maps.

The body appears to have been drowned. There was a massive gale on the North Sea.

The Pelsjord maps are finally finished.

The Pharaoh meets with the king of Oman to discuss reuniting Arabia to make it a power to be reckoned with. Fatimids are encouraging Arabs to join the Empire across the Arabian penninsula. The Pharaoh is assembling an army in Judea and is hoping that Omaneese troops join. The first target is modern day Iraq.

The Omanese king accepts the Egyptian offer

The Pharaoh moves the capital to Mecca (to appeal to Arabs) and urges the Arabic tribes to unite behind his banner.

The army is still being assembled.

The king is pleased with the maps of Pelsjord and looks for a suitable location for a colony.

Mecca becomes the official Fatamid capital.

There is an okay location for a colony, but it is infested with savages.

Scotland, Ireland, and Wales launch an assault on England, attacking it from all sides. They manage to take over Northumbria, but southern England is too strong.

The Arabs in Qurtuba launch an assault on Leon.

Olaf sends in settlers to the location. They're Vikings, they can handle some savages, assuming they're even hostile to begin with.

A Fatimid envoy comes to Qurtuba and praises them for attacking Europe. He proposes an alliance between the Arab states.

Arab troops now move into Mosul. The troops are all Arabs, though some of them tribes and others from the Fatimids. Omaneese troops are presumably going alongside the Fatimids. The troops consisting largely of cavalry take advantage of the flat terrain to trample enemies or in some cases turn them into porcupines via arrows.

A village in Mosul territory is picked and brutally destroyed. People are allowed to flee (though they don't know it) to report to other cities what will happen if they don't surrender or join the Arab cause.

The Fatamids accept the alliance.

The Mosul towns do not care if a few villages are destroyed, the towns are strong enough to defend themselves.


The Viking settlers start a colony in northern Pelsjord.

King Olaf has another daughter, named Ana.

Towns that resist are ordered to have its inhabitants killed off (although allowing a handful of witnesses to escape).

Most of the towns would require a prolonged siege (up to a year) to be captured. Only a few were able to be captured by assault.


The Norwegian king and queen discover that Elsa has certain.... powers.

Since most of the towns are in warm deserts, it would be easy to burn them the Pharaoh figures. Burning arrows are shot over city walls and men are stationed around the cities that don't surrender to kill any escapee.

King Olaf is quite pleased that he has two daughters, especially with the revealing of Elsa's powers. Given these powers and the king's obsession with magic, he orders the requirement for a male heir abolished, changing the Nordic succession practices to be gender-neutral. This puts Elsa first in line for the throne and ensures that she will stay that way even if the Queen bears him a son.

Many roofs are burned, but the walls are built of stone, and thus fire-proof.


The law is changed without a lot of trouble, although there is some grumbling.

Olaf decides that Elsa's powers should be kept more or less secret. He doesn't want some foreign power (the Danes came to mind) attempting to assassinate her, particularly before the full scope and utility of her power is explored.

In the meantime, he orders the construction of more ships (assuming the Norwegian economy can afford it, they should be able to with their overland trade roads attempting to undercut Denmark), intending to create a permanent waystation on Forpast and Iceland if the latter is a thing yet on the way to Pelsjord, given the difficulties of the long journey across the northern seas.

King Olaf orders the construction of a royal castle on a fjord, closer to the south of Norway.

A castle is built in southern Norway, dubbed Arendelle. The royal family is moved there, and Elsa is kept there secretly.

A fleet of around 200 ships are built, more will continue to be built.

With the increase in naval power Olaf orders the settlement of a permanent waystation in Forpast. He has his courtiers in Denmark and Sweden cast about for eligible noblemen to eventually be married off to his daughters, hopefully unifying the countries.

A Dane by the name of Hans is suitable for Ana, once she comes of age of course, however there is some trouble finding a mate who would be trustworthy to keep Elsa's secret.

Year change 1006.

Elsa is 3 years old. Ana is 1.

Olaf sends an envoy to the Danes to arrange a betrothal.

The Danes are unwilling to commit the young Hans, and would rather wait 'til he was older so he could decide for himself.

Olaf hopes that the Forpast expedition will be able to create a permanent sea lane between Norway and Pelsjord.
