First off, welcome Gaara! I hope your participation in our forum brings you everlasting peace and happiness.

Anyway, yeah, it's kind of like what Sagan says. I don't want characters that are just automatically combat wizards; firearm experience is a big yes, but honestly, who expects to win a knife fight or a martial-arts duel with a zombie horde? It's kind of useless, no offense intended.

Furthermore it'd be nicer if we could have characters with different areas of expertise; Gaara is on to something with Mathias being experienced in woodworking and construction. That could be invaluable if you guys were to, say, set up a fortified position.

Finally, because my OCPD will bug me if I don't say this, Gaara, you could do with using some capital letters where appropriate. And again, welcome  

OK, here is my character:

Full Name: Gus
Age: Close to 30
Occupation: Lumberjack
Appearance: Gus’s body is built strong, considering he is/was a forester. He usually wears standard forestry clothing, which includes a whole pair of overalls and a long sleeve t-shirt.
Height: Medium
Skills: Considering that Gus is a lumberjack, he obviously knows how to use machinery . Along with that, as a lumberjack he knows just enough CPR to let him keep the job and pass the annual CPR test. In other words, he knows what to do in theory, but in practice that may change.. He does know how to shoot a gun, because he is an occasional hunter.
Personality: Gus has one job, to chop down trees. He is very narrow minded, and refuses to believe what others tell him. Warnings are not often heeded. Naturally, having spent his entire life being a Canadian lumberjack, he has seen little violence, and might need a push to kill another humanoid being.

Now things are bubbling up in here. Following Mycro's logic, Sam could be skilled in the matters of hunting/ weaponry.

Awesome and sorry for no Capital letters I didnt know that there wasnt any auto capital on or anything. Plus the karate thing was a little weird I guess its because I am a black belt in real life so I just put that because I thought it might help some time later in the game. This is only my second role playing game i have ever played so feel free to tell me if im doing somthing wrong:D.

It's precisely that. Plus knowing martial arts won't be terribly useful against zombies anyhow. Non-combat skills can be useful, like how I pointed out your character's ability to fortify buildings.

I'm liable to not know either way with Charisma being my dump stat (along with Wisdom, Strength, and Constitution...I think when God rolled me up he ended up putting everything into Intelligence and some Dexterity. Not too much in the latter either; I'm good with video games and not a whole lot else.
