Rules Thread
Mmkay. It's high time we got more members, and as such we need rules so that newly arrived members don't go "what a POS forum" and leave immediately.
So. The purpose of this thread will be for the TTR community as a whole to figure out what these rules should be.

Re: Rules Thread
i think we should put the "You ALWAYS agree with what's being done to you" improv rule in the rule of the forum.

Re: Rules Thread
Don't think that'll work, given how much crazier this forum can get (with magic and stuff in RPs) somebody could come along and say "I create a black hole in the center of your left eyeball" and that wouldn't be terribly fun, would it?
Should we have a set of requirements for people starting RPs? Such as what the players/DM can and can't do, etc.?

Re: Rules Thread
Anyway, I will be updating the rules as I see fit and this thread shall henceforth be used for you the assembled members of TTR to comment on them and suggest changes.
Re: Rules Thread
What is it that you are hoping to achieve by setting these rules?

Re: Rules Thread
More structure, so that we can invite people without them thinking the forum is a piece of crap.
Re: Rules Thread
Anyway with much further ado, I present the first items of discussion: Metagaming and trolling.
Trolling I'm not entirely sure what to do with; a lot of it probably has to do with defining the line between giving-your-friend-a-hard-time trolling and being-a-!@#$ trolling.
Metagaming is usually used to refer to the application of out of character knowledge to your RP, meaning if you personally know there's a dragon in the next room but your character doesn't, you can't suddenly have your character know that. Where the real problems extend here is in the issue of "karma" or DM retaliation for being a jerk.

On the issue of trolling: I don't think there is much anybody can do on the issue of giving- your-friend- a- hard- time trolling. It may just be a natural thing to give slightly tougher situations to people one knows because the person in question just happens to know them better. I also don't think that there is much trolling on this forum.

Re: Rules Thread
"Oh yeah you put a black hole in my Eye, well I have a magical warded Eye Patch which blocks the black hole and now when ever I take it off Everything I look at with that Eye Gets Sucked in" Hi everyone I am back, and I shall offer my input. First off, There are many cool think on your feet kinds of things you can do with rps, but we do need some kind of Set power limit and Metagaming control. Personally I think that the Ability to Create a black hole unless specified that you can do so by the DMs, should be banned. I agree with the fact that there isn't much Trolling at the moment.

Which mainly stems from the fact that we all more or less know each other (at least everybody knows me, anyway) on the forum IRL, so we aren't jerkoffs for the most part.
Welcome back, Doom! Glad to see your return and that you didn't take my (perhaps overly spiteful) facebook messages the wrong way.
As for the power limit thing, I'm of a mind to say it depends on the RP. The DM or RP founder or whatnot should be responsible for setting the general scope of what things can do (although the ability to create black holes is usually pretty OP; I have seen only ONE RP in my entire life that handled such things and it was pretty rare). So if/when I restart the L4D RP, people will have a certain set of rules which are different from the set of rules in T&T, or from Myrran Wars, or Alexandrite, etc. as defined by the DM or in the case of T&T, general consensus.
