Successor of Rome Empty Successor of Rome

Post by Sirius Lupin Mon Sep 09, 2013 9:14 am

Alright, this is a NSRP (like the CNC Roleplays). Here, you will play as the nation-states that were left after Rome collapsed. The beginning of the RP takes place in 476 A.D. I would list the nation states, but I'm kinda too lazy to do so, so here's a map that will help you decide which states to play as:

Successor of Rome Ms476europe

Anyway, the Roman Emporer (or, the more technical term would be usurper, as he was not a legit emporer) Romulus Augustulus- a 14-year-old boy placed on the throne by his ambitious father Orestes- has just been overthrown by the Ostrogoth (of questionable descent, according to wikipedia) general Odoacer, which caused the end of the Western Roman Empire. Now various warlords and nations fight for the chance to be the successor of Rome.

Will you be that successor?

Rules:
1. For every assassination attempt, upgrade in technology, battle or the like, you will have to roll a d20 and base what happens on what you rolled. For example, let's say you want to assassinate Odoacer and roll a 20. In this scenario, it would be a perfect kill and the assassin would easily slip away. If you roll a 1 in the same scenario, it would fail and your assassin would be caught and executed.
2. To avoid confusion on what year it is, let's say every 1.5 pages would be a year. Sound reasonable?

Without further ado, pick your nations!

Taken Nations
Arabs- Numbers
Vandals- PW

(Picture was not made by me, as you can probably tell by the disclaimer.)

I suppose I'll probably be joining this, however, it'll have to wait for a bit on account of I don't know what the heck I'll be doing and I've got about a billion things to do.

(Cyrus IV is from Persia)

The Sicilians prepare their defenses while the Berbers push inwards into Vandal territory. (d20 #1)

Meanwhile, Persia attacks an Arab city (or the like.) (d20 #2)

Cyrus' attack is easily repelled by the Arabs.

The Berbers take some territory from the Vandals (though not much).

The now united Arabs, fighting for a single cause launch a massive invasion of modern day Iraq with their new king (Do I get bonuses on rolls while fighting in Iraq since their terrain resembles Arabia's as opposed to the mountains of Persia?)

(Pick one, and then see about conquering the other. Or there could be a marriage between a Breton noble of high importance and a Briton noble of high importance, which would most likely unite the two. These are the only ones I could come up with, though. Up to you.)

The Vandals focus on securing Sicily, hoping that Odoacer will be too distracted with governing Rome to fight off invaders in Sicily.

The Vandals- at heavy costs- take a significant portion of Sicily.

(Numbers, as with my other role-plays, there are no bonuses to dice rolls)
