Wookieepedia wrote:A sophisticated sensor package, augmented by the droid's transparent dome, allowed the droids to see 360 degrees at all times.

[Referring to the Wookieepedia entry for R3 droids.]

Maus spotted the duo as soon as they entered the engine room, emitting a shrill whistle of warning. Teren, hearing him, drew her blaster (having obtained one after her "adventure" with Atton and Bastila) and pointed it in their direction. Not really in the best mood ever to deal with this sort of thing, she bared her teeth as she pulled the trigger.

(Alright. Well. Damnit. Very Happy Can I at least have Shayal succeed at disabling Maus, even after it sees her?)

Horatio's lightsaber springs to life just in time to block Teren's shot. In a thick (IRL/OTL Scottish) accent, he calls out, "Miss, I'm afraid you're not going to win this. We are both trained Jedi knights. Please stand down, and we will not hurt you."

[I'd say that's Sirius' call, although I personally would say that Shayal wouldn't; 15 plus her not being that great with saber-work wouldn't cut it in my book. But again, Sirius is the DM.]

Teren's answer was something akin to a snarl and a barrage of blaster bolts. "Bull$#!@! The Jedi don't exist anymore!"

(I suppose I should have mentioned that delicate yet unspecialized work like a cutting a wire is what Shayal is best at with a lightsaber.)

"Miss, I'm sorry to say you're sadly misinformed. The Jedi are alive and well. (They are, aren't they? I don't know much about this time period)" Horatio says, continuing to block her blasts, albeit with some difficulty. "Also, I see you harbor much rage inside you. Without inner calm, you will not win this fight, nor any other."

(I'll wait to see the results of Shayal v. Maus before I post my next move(s))

[This is 0 BBY/ABY, fairly early on in the Galactic Civil War. The Alliance to Restore the Republic (AKA the Rebellion) is a little over two years old. This is after the rise of the Empire. The Jedi are, for most people's intents and purposes, extinct. So Teren's not actually all that badly misinformed.]

(For battles and using skills, you roll dice, then decide the outcome based on the role. As for the disabling question, maybe the character has the Force with them, so to speak. (Luck, in other words)

"Aren't you a little short for a Stormtrooper?" Bastila asks Archul, waking up from her sleep.

"Where have I heard that before?" Archul mutters before saying, "Gear up, for I'm gettin' you outta here."

As Bastila and Atton run down the hallway, making sure to take down two guards and quickly steal their armor to get to the armory without raising red flags, Archul takes out his holocommunicater, activates it, and calls Shyall.

"Is my ship alright?" Archul asks.

( Smile Alright, that sounds very fair. I think based on my roll it would probably be safe to assume that at the very least, Maus will be no help in the immediate fight.)

Backing up behind Horatio so as to be out of the way of Teren's blasting, Shayal answers back, "The ship's fine. There seems to be an unusually angry imperial engineer and her droid here in your engine room. We're handling them, though." As an afterthought, she adds, "I haven't had a chance to check outside recently, though. Hurry back."

When Shayal is finished communicating with Archul, Horatio calls out to her, "Hey, I could use a little help here!"

"Oh. Right." Shayal summons the power of the Force, and tries to Force push Teren's legs out from underneath her.

Teren was just lining up another shot before she felt something invisible slam into her legs. Before she really knew what was going on, she'd fallen to the floor, barely extending her arms in time to keep from slamming face-first into the metal plating. Her blaster clattered out of reach beneath the engine.

But she wasn't about to submit to these morons. She'd already made up her mind about that; she'd fight them until she collapsed from exhaustion. Or broke down in tears, but she preferred the first option, mentally stomping on her resurgent grief for her father. She picked up the fusion cutter from where she had left it and adopted a crouched position, waiting for one of these so-called Jedi to make a move.

Archul turned off the holocommunicater and sighed as Atton and Bastila race back. "C'mon!" He shouts, "My friends need your help.

"And bring the droid too!"

Meanwhile, there are no threats outside of Archul's ship.

Horatio sheathes his lightsaber, while Shayal seizes the dropped blaster with the Force, and holds it on Teren a minute, before putting it in her belt at a nod from Horatio.

"Lass, drop that... instrument. You're no threat to us. Leave peacefully, and we'll let you go free. No one has to die here."

Archul reaches the ship and drags the body he placed his armor on onto it.

Atton and Bastila follow closely behind.

"Teren," Atton says, pointing his pistol at her. "We meet again."

"Under no circumstances should you let your guard down around her. She is more dangerous than she looks."

"Eat $#!@, Jaq." Teren said. Reluctantly, she dropped the fusion cutter and raised her hands in surrender. A gun pointed at her made her think that maybe this was the better course of action, for the moment.

She felt like she might burst into tears, and did her level best to be pissed off instead. It worked, somewhat; now she felt like bursting into tears while strangling somebody.

Maus, still twitching, had self-repaired by now and warbled rather angrily at Shayal.

(I'd like to officially announce that I will be out of this roleplay for two weeks, starting today, as I will be travelling to France.)

Shayal goes to greet Archul and Bastila.

Horatio, meanwhile, walks over to Teren, places a hand on her shoulder, and steadily matches her gaze. "It seems that our companions don't feel that we can abide by our earlier offer, and for that I am truly sorry.

Also, Lass, the power of the Force is not strong in me, but it does not take a mystic to see that you are deeply troubled. If my words can mean anything at all to you, I urge you to focus not on rage and revenge, but rather to deal with whatever is bothering you calmly, and with discipline. No trouble can last forever. That said, take your own time about it, and do not force contentment either. I hope these words help. They were given once to me, when I was younger."

With that, Horatio removes his hand from her shoulder, and goes to greet the others as Shayal did.

(Shayal and Horatio will now proceed to generally follow and defend the party. They will however probably take no great action until I return. If any such action is needed, I give permission to Sirius or Mycro to take that action. See you all on the other side!)

"Mind your own business!" Teren snapped. She didn't want to hear any of that spiritual load of crap. What she wanted was to be left alone.

Archul goes to the cockpit to takeoff, but the ship won't turn on.

"Dammit!" He swears under his breath, returning to the group and takes out one of his pistols. "What did you to my ship?!" He demands to Teren, pointing the gun at her.

"I've done nothing to this ship." Teren lied smoothly, her face the very picture of innocence. "I just find it amusing that the minute this run-down pile of scrap metal stops working (which should have happened months ago, by the way) you're all so quick to blame me."

While Atton, Teren and Archul were arguing about the ship, T3 decided to secretly make its way out of the hanger to meet its partner: Agent A (rebel spy).

Archul and Atton don't buy it.

"I don't trust the word of a f***ing Imperial scumbag." Atton said.

"And neither do I." Archul says, agreeing with Atton.

"And guess what?" Archul continues. "I happen to take quite good care of my ship, so you have no right to judge me on that matter! Besides, this ain't a rustbucket! Do you even know that much about modern-day ship designs?"

"So why don't you tell us what you did with this ship?" Atton says.

"Well, I don't trust Rebel scum, so we're even. You claim to know so much about ship designs, you figure out what's wrong."

[According to Wookieepedia, the most common sublight engine is the ion drive. Teren did two things to Archul's engine. First, she rerouted the power supply into a loop that causes the source to overload briefly and shut itself off. Second, she disabled the exhaust controls, a modification that's damn near impossible to detect without taking the engine out of the ship entirely, and if the earlier problem is fixed will cause the engines to melt once switched on.]

[The point of this exercise is to shunt everyone onto the one ship like you wanted and to score Teren some badly-needed morale points.]

"Captain," Archul says to Atton. "Keep her under guard with Bastila, Horatio, and Shayal while I check the engine."

Archul leaves, and checks the engine to find it tampered with. "Son of a Hutt! That Imp scrum has sabotaged it." Archul shouts, going back to the group. He approaches Teren and back hands her across the face rather hard, leaving a mark and a bloody nose.
